Tatra's Region

The Tatra's lie as a natural border between Slovakia and Poland covering 750km2 in total 600km2 of which lies in Slovakia. The Tatra’s have 4 regions Western, Eastern, High and Belianske with a highest peak of 2,655m above sea level. The region has 11 peaks over 2500m and is the only mountain range with an alpine character in the whole 1200 km length of the Carpathian Mountains.

The Tatras has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site to preserve the natural beauty of the area. During the winter months, it is famous for its winter sports. The main ski resorts include Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica and the ski season runs from November until March.

During the summer the rolling mountain ranges offer a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting, rock climbing, cycling, horse riding and golf.

Until recently, the booming real estate market in Slovakia has been more or less centred on its capital city, Bratislava, with investors looking for long-term commercial and residential lettings.

However, due to increasing prices in the city, many are looking towards Slovakia’s tourist hotspots to tap into their previously untouched potential.

Limited Supply

The majority of the Tatra’s Mountains is covered by National Parks, meaning that construction in the area is significantly restricted. The advantage of this to investors is to know that supply should never outstrip demand due to over development.
